Amazing pastries! The shop was busy, but the line was not too long when we went. They have a great variety of pastries and treats. Lobster tails are awesome and made to order. They are cash only, unfortunately we didn’t have much cash in us when we went, so we were not able to get everything we wanted, but that gives us a reason to return!

We had heard about this place and wanted to come there to check it out. There are two parts of the bakery, the take out portion and then a small seating area for dining in. We decided to dine in and had americanos and cannolis. They do have a gluten free cannoli which was delicious! The coffee and cannolis were excellent, and we were happy to have the experience at Modern Pastry! It is a cash only place, as an added piece of info.

HOLY CANNOLI!!!😋 I was looking up what a cannoli was while waiting in line which took some 10 minutes max and WOW, it’s my favorite dessert now! I had the plain with traditional ricotta and pistachios. Excellent balance of creamy filling and crunchy shell. I could taste the ricotta and the sweetness was just right. Absolutely recommend going here, you will not be disappointed. They are true Italian legends and certainly a family-first oriented company. Seating is available which may need reservation but I’m not certain.

Just an absolutely fantastic dessert shop! So many delicious options for you to choose from! We got some take away cake and tart to take back to eat at the hotel because we were too full from dinner. My most favourite was a limoncello cake, it's so soft and tasty 🤤 …

If you are looking for to try an authentic cannoli in Boston while visiting, I recommend stopping here above all other options! From the moment you step in the door, you can tell the business is family-owned and run! Italian imported snacks & pantry staples are sold, in addition to fresh cannolis, pastries, cookies, and other treats. They also have a cafe seating area where you are welcome to enjoy your goodies in the restaurant (some other places do not offer this), which is much appreciated. Very friendly service by the staff overall! Also, better flavor & crunchier, thicker shell on their cannolis than some of the other options in the area. Try a regular shell with ricotta fill and chocolate chips to start! Only note - try to visit over 30 minutes before closing if you’re looking to dine in, as we noticed a staff member ushering people out of the seating area around then. Great experience and taste overall, though!

It's no wonder there is a long line. The cannoli here is made fresh to order and filled with cream and powdered sugar. The crunch gives it a lovely texture. I would even say it's better than the ones I've tried in Italy! I ordered the creme brulee and the Napoleon as well, but none compared to the cannoli. It's truly better than the rest. The lobster tail is another popular choice. They also have coffee and other drink options. The line moved fast and the staff was great at efficiency. I thoroughly enjoyed my experience. There are even tables to sit, although I did not. I ate mine near the swings. It's cash only.

We came with one mission and that was for the cannolis. Modern Pastry Shop delivered, crisply, sweetly, and with just the right amount of powdered sugar chaos. This bakery feels like an Italian tradition. I loved it the moment I stepped in! The display window boasts trophies, vintage photos, and branded merch, hinting at a legacy of excellence. But it’s the dessert case that truly steals the show, rows of chocolate-dipped cannoli, glossy cupcakes, and pastries so artfully arranged they practically beg for a photo op. We grabbed a pair of cannolis and settled into their seated section with espressos in hand. It’s a cozy nook tucked away from the bustle, perfect for savoring each bite. The cannoli shell was crisp and golden, the filling rich and velvety, and the chocolate-dipped ends added a decadent finish. The almonds were a nice touch as well. Beyond the sweets, the shop doubles as a gourmet market, with shelves of pasta, olive oil, and imported snacks. Service was quick and friendly, even with a steady stream of customers. Modern Pastry was a great play’s to grab a classic cannoli, a strong espresso, and a seat to enjoy them both.

The manager of the cafe came out and offered a seat. I'm glad he did. From just going in and grabbing cannolis around a crazy crowd, I've never noticed the cafes due to wanting to get out from the havoc as quickly as possible at the other place. It's incredible I never noticed Modern has a much more accommodating cafe to enjoy everything they offer. I had my uncle visiting from California and he had never had a cannoli. I also added in a Tiramisu for good measure. He was blown away. I've had many throughout New England. This lives up to the hype. I didn't realize they've been around longer. So they've definitely mastered the craft. We grabbed the mini cannolis and that Tiramisu was next level. The balance of the flavors was spot on, exactly what I'm always looking for in both a cannoli and Tiramisu. Two coffees... All totaling at $36.00 for two. This is perfect for a casual date or just hanging out with someone if it's not be too crazy. I would definitely highly recommend Modern Pastry's cafe if you're visiting from out of town and have never been there.

Stopped in at Modern Pastry on Hanover and picked up cannoli to take away. They were excellent, filled freshly to order, the shells staying super crisp and packed with smooth ricotta. The pastry range on display is vast and impressive, classic Italian-American baking done at scale without losing quality. On another visit we sat in the café window with coffee and cake, a fabulous treat. From our table it was absorbing to watch the steady rhythm of orders to go, people transfixed by the display, weighing endless choices, all set against a low hum of chatter and appetite. The proof of this storied bakery is in its history and its place in the North End, in the eating, and in the ever-present queue, which moves along quickly despite the hungry throng.

My first visit to this bakery and it was spectacular!!!!10/10 The cream inside of the LOBSTER TAIL and Cannoli is what makes it so special!! The lobster tails are huge and it’s worth the money. We also tried the pistachio and chocolate chip cannoli. But next time I really just want plain cause I like the cannoli filling and shell the best, just it self. Bring cash, it’s cash only. RUNN :)
